the unexpected deciding shot

thanks to youtube, the most precious second in last sunday's ateneo vs. ust game was immortalized many times over:

who ever thought that one second was enough?

freedom from work week: november 20-24

last week, all of us in HR were asked to schedule our mandatory consecutive 5-day leaves. i don't know if it's just banks that do this, or not. anyway, i scheduled mine from nov. 20-24, monday to friday. long enough for me to take a vacation or a short fun course or whatever. well, these are some of the things that i've thought of doing so far:

1. visit ateneo - walk around, get my long-overdue diploma that has not yet been signed by our dean as of mid-september, buy a couple of non-academic books, eat at manang's, & look for the professors who made my college life a face-to-face encounter with both heaven & hell. pass by UP on the way home, eat isaw, fishballs, & rodic's tapsilog. pure bliss. : )
2. get a headstart on my Christmas shopping - for myself. hehe!
3. go on any of the trips on www.travelryt.com that i've been eyeing since summer.
4. spend a day availing of my medical card's benefits by visiting the derma & the dentist (among other medical practitioners). & if i'm in the mood to be uber responsible, i'll even wake up extra early & line up at SSS baclaran first to get my picture taken for my ID.
5. go on a retreat for yuppies (if i could find one, that is).
6. just stay at home, & aim for the couch potato of the year award, with the aid of borrowed gilmore girls/seventh heaven/desperate housewives vcd's/dvd's.

any suggestions?

my celebrity look-alikes (?!)

found this on chi's blog. interesting.

zhang ziyi & lucy liu, i understand. my chinky eyes account for the supposed resemblance. but beyonce, camille velasco, mandy moore & sarah geronimo?! by the way, who is reiko aylesworth & evangeline lilly? pardon me, i hardly give the idiot box more attention than a piece of furniture.

believe it or not, rachelle ann go also appeared as my look-alike. twice.

the devil wears prada

slept from past 4 yesterday afternoon, to past 12 today. hence i am awake, and will probably be for a couple more hours.

anyway, i saw "the devil wears prada" with kristine apale last wednesday, at glorietta 4, for free! thanks, girl! looking forward to more freebies from you and kuya kenneth. hehe...

a must-see, as far as fashion is concerned. you will literally be bombarded by dozens of ensembles at close to lightning speed in several parts of the film. it is nice to note also, that the film touched on deeper and more important aspects of life - relationships, work-life balance, happiness, fulfillment. hits the spot in girls like me and kristine, who have been spending most of our waking hours at work lately.

2. Tag five more people after you finish, complete with links to their sites.
3. Let the person you've tagged KNOW that they've been tagged, for Pete's sake.

random thoughts

as usual, work has been taking up my time. but i feel so lucky to be working with my officemates - it's nice to be with people who actually care.

still gaining weight. ugh. was actually asked if i were pregnant before i got on a ride in star city two weeks ago. double ugh. my face is rounder than ever. triple ugh. my only consolations are that my clothes still fit, & i was mistaken for a soon-to-be-practicumer (not an actual member of the work force) when i was buying business clothes in the black shop around a month ago. haha... :)

= = = = = = = = = =

caught the last two sunday episodes of philippine idol. an english blockmate of mine - ira marasigan - made it to the top 24. not surprising - she starred in a major play last summer, & was a member of the glee club during college (along with her identical twin).

the girls' first live performance will be next sunday, so i'll definitely be watching out for her. it's nice to actually know someone (even just as an acquaintance) in a TV competition, for a change. good luck, girl. :)

i just noticed that since i started working, i haven't actually bought anything big for myself. just the occasional clothes during mallwide sales, or books. the most expensive single item that i have bought so far is a pair of boots from manels that was worth P1695 (less 10%). hmmm...

i'm thrifty (to a fault even, i guess). there are things that i would buy for other people, but not for myself. it's just that i feel that i should save for a rainy day. but as it is, i think that it's high time for me to buy something for myself. i deserve it! hehe... :) so i'm reserving my YEFA (yearend financial aid equivalent to 1.5 months' pay) & my sick leave cash conversion (equivalent to 13.75 days' pay, assuming that i don't get sick 'til the end of the year) to buy a phone & a watch. unless of course, my kuripot side overrules me when the time comes. hehe... :) any suggestions what phone model or watch should i get? :)

by the way, can anyone tell me if my flicker still works? i haven't seen it since our net connection was fixed. must be my browser settings.
